This story is so true. Reminds me of a line from Spider-Man: Far from Home at the end with the villain Mysterio.

I was really sad at the end of the story, that Simon didn’t go back to the museum and fix what he had done. But not everyone chooses to do the right thing.

True! That movie has misinformation and people choosing what they want to hear instead of what is true as its central themes. Makes the pursuit of truth all the more relevant and important today.

That was a good story, but the narrative was very close to the truth. It wouldn't take much for people to believe that. After all, they already believe some crazy things about the vatican and the previous popes.

All it would take is for someone to mention that the pope's Mitre and say it's supposed to represent Dagon.

That’s precisely why I felt compelled to write this. We’re living in unsettling times: media literacy has reached a worrying low, just as the tools to manipulate and mislead have become more advanced than ever.

Like to story tells it, we don't even need deception but can leave it to our own fancy and belief in AI that repeats that fancy.
